First Check Point of my recent "Cute" journey

Introduction

Hello Everyone,

I hope that you're doing fine! Christmas is just a few days away and it is escorting us to enter this brand new year.

I've always wanted to compile my experiments of the coding journey in one place in form of a blog, I am glad that I came across this platform which will serve as a witness to my journey.

As the title suggests, First Check Point of my recent Cute journey, I'm here to narrate one such journey of mine. It's not something of a personal travel blog but my experience of learning something new.

On 21.12.2021, I successfully completed my 6-months-probation period in the current organization I am working at. So, I can regard it as the first check point of this journey, then you might be wondering about the Cute part. Oh, yes it proved to be a Cute journey for me both literally and metaphorically.

I have been learning about Qt (pronounced as Cute which I read as Cutie when I saw this word for the first time ) for the last many months. I am expected to gain some level of expertise in Qt during my training phase so as to be able to handle projects involving Qt.

Qt

Basically, Qt is a cross-platform framework of C++. Having said this, it can be used to develop various applications involving the design of GUIs to be run on various OS like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. I was aware of C++ coding but I had never worked with any framework of Qt before. My first association with coding dates back to my school days when I had to choose between Computer Science and Economics. I chose Computer Science in which I learned about C++ and enjoyed developing logic for some basic programs. Later, in the first year of my Engineering, I learned about C which did not interest me as much as C++ did. Being a student of Electrical Engineering, I had to learn to code in MATLAB script which became relatively simple for me as compared to other students of my class because of my prior knowledge of C++. Later, in my workplace, I learned about Python,SQL, HTML, C++ for the requirements of the projects.

Resources

It felt so great to have got a chance to work on the programming language through which I started my journey of coding. How important it is to have the knowledge of coding in this world shaped by pandemics, it's needless to express! Basic knowledge of C++ has always given me the confidence to learn a new language. During my training phase, I heavily relied on the following resources -

Stack Overflow

For conceptual queries regarding C++ , I keep referring to these sites - GeeksforGeeks , Cplusplus, TutorialsPoint, W3Schools

I really find the above resources very helpful and still refer to them whenever I am stuck in my design. You can post your queries in the above-mentioned forums where some highly enthusiastic experts will solve your queries.

I have mostly tried to create the UI design with Qt classes and have experimented very limitedly with form files but I want to explore working with form files in near future.

Reflections

When I look back at this journey; this journey of relocating to a foreign land amidst a pandemic situation, getting infected with COVID and recovered, phase of my job hunting, eventually acquiring one, all these seem to be a rewarding experience. So, I won't shy away from regarding it as a cute journey.

Until next time, wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year in advance!!

P.S : This is the first blog banner I created using Canva, for this post, don't want to remove it. So, keeping it at the end of the post.
